Engine Programmer

Are you an experienced Senior Engine Programmer skilled in engine architecture, low‑level optimisation and cross‑project technical support?

This is an opportunity to join a technical team responsible for the shared engine foundation powering multiple games. You’ll work on a proprietary engine and editor ecosystem, contributing to core architecture, performance, stability and development workflows. This role suits someone who enjoys deep technical challenges and building robust systems that directly impact production quality and speed.

About the role

You will be a key contributor to the technological backbone of various in‑development and future titles. Working on a custom engine and associated tools, you’ll design, optimise and maintain advanced systems that enable teams to build high‑quality games efficiently. You will collaborate closely with development teams, providing ongoing support, documentation and technical guidance.

What you’ll do

• Ensure the engine’s architecture is robust, scalable and optimised for efficient production
• Profile and optimise low‑level engine and game systems, including I/O, multithreading and memory use
• Develop and integrate new engine features aligned with project requirements
• Diagnose and resolve complex engine‑level bugs to improve stability and reliability
• Support game teams with documentation, technical assistance and best‑practice guidance
• Contribute to long‑term engine evolution and technical roadmap planning

What we’re looking for:

Experience

• 5+ years of professional engine programming experience in the game industry
• Strong understanding of engine architecture, internal systems and technical workflows
• Experience maintaining and extending substantial, existing codebases
• Demonstrated ability to deliver technical solutions independently from concept to completion

Skills

• Strong coding abilities for building efficient, maintainable systems
• Ability to analyse problems and propose effective, scalable solutions
• Strong sense of ownership, autonomy and responsibility
• Clear communication across technical and non‑technical teams

Nice to have

• Experience with graphics programming (rendering pipelines, shaders, GPU)
• Experience with console development, optimisation and hardware constraints
• Familiarity with Haxe, custom engines or proprietary tools
• Strong experience with C/C++
• Experience implementing compiler‑related features or systems
